Community Development
Planned sustainable community development projects, including improved access to clean water, solar-powered lighting and sanitation facilities.
Some needs belong to a whole community rather than one household: safe water, light after dark, sanitation, a road that stays passable. Community Development is how we intend to work on those shared foundations, so that daily life can become safer and healthier for everyone who lives there.
We aim to support sustainable community development projects, including improved access to clean water, solar-powered lighting and sanitation facilities. These initiatives are currently being planned and developed.
The challenge
In many rural and underdeveloped areas, basic infrastructure is missing or has failed. Without clean water, lighting or sanitation, ordinary life is harder and less safe.
The burden falls on the people with the fewest alternatives.
What we are planning
We are exploring community development initiatives that may include access to clean water, solar-powered lighting, sanitation improvements and other locally identified infrastructure needs. These projects are at the planning or proposal stage and have not yet been delivered by Significant Impact.
Sustainability will be the test. A borehole or a streetlight matters only if it is still working years later, so we intend to plan for that from the start.
